What the AAMA 1901-25 Standard Requires
AAMA 1901-25 sets performance requirements for security screens against forced entry. It focuses on deterring entry through four tests:
- Impact Test: Simulates physical strikes against the screen.
- Pry Test: Measures resistance to pry bars and similar tools used to force a door or window open.
- Knife Shear Test: Measures the screen’s resistance to cutting with a sharp blade.
- Pull Test: Evaluates the product’s ability to withstand significant pull force, simulating someone trying to physically pull the screen open.

Impact Resistance
Screens withstood more than 885 inch-pounds of repeated impact pressure in independent testing, resisting repeated attempts to break through by brute force.
Cut Resistance
In independent testing, Meshtec screens withstood repeated knife shear attempts, in two different directions to ensure integrity regardless of the cut direction.
Pry Resistance
Our security doors use a 3-point vault lock system with latch guards to resist pry bars and other burglary tools. That lock configuration provides the strength and security that’s required to pass AAMA 1901-25 for door products.
Pull Resistance
The pull test applies a 300-lb load, simulating a significant pulling force trying to remove the screen.
